Youth Competition Team Shines at AAU TKD Nationals in Florida

Over the Fourth of July Weekend, six members of the Super Kicks Competition Team traveled to Ft. Lauderdale to compete in the AAU Tae Kwon Do Nationals.  Leading the way was Marco Wilson who took Gold in both Olympic Style Sparring and Point Sparring.  Marco has been training since the age of 4 and competing since he was 5.  With the possibility of the 2016 Olympics being held in Chicago,  Marco continues to train hard with the hopes of competing for a spot on the national team in the future.  In addition to his training at Super Kicks,  Marco supplements his training regimen in Virginia with instruction from 1988 Olympic Gold Medalist Arlene Limas.

Other notable performances at the AAU Nationals include Matt Doherty winning Gold for the fourth straight year in Point Sparring.  Matt’s martial arts continue to evolve.  In addition to the martial arts, Matt plays guitar, tennis and chess.  He is applying to the US Naval Academy next year.  Matt is a prime example a well-rounded martial artist.  Samantha Leidel took home a Gold Medal in her first year at Nationals.  As with Matt, Samantha continues to improve her game.  At only 13,  Sam has the size, length and emerging talent to be a force in Olympic Style Competition.
